A 28-year-old man has been abducted by yet-to-be-identified men at a parking lot in Benoni, Johannesburg and the South African Police (SAPS) has opened an investigation on the grounds of Kidnapping.
Video footage captured from a surveillance camera showed the moment the 28-year-old was whisked away by a group of men in a white van.
The victim has been identified by an anti-crime activist, Yusuf Abramjee. According to Yusuf, the victim is Moulana Tahseen, the son of Abdul Mateen, a local businessman. Yusuf has also gone ahead to suspect that the reason behind the kidnap is ransom.
“There is no doubt that we are seeing dramatic increases in kidnappings in South Africa. In neighboring Mozambique, they still continue and it has been ongoing for a number of years. I think we have some major, dangerous, highly-skilled organized gangs at work, we are also finding more and more smaller, so-called copycat gangs trying their luck,” he said

This incident is coming just a few days after the release of the Moti brothers who were kidnapped on their way to school on Wednesday 20, October. The increasing level of Kidnaps in the country is becoming a worrisome affair.
