South Africa has consistently been having Snow over the past 4 years now in places that have never experienced snow before.

The widespread snowfall is currently indicated across parts of South Africa and Lesotho between Thursday and Sunday, with snow indicated for the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban on Friday and Saturday.

There has been report of snow in KZN, and it’s environ.

Light snow had already fallen on the highest peaks in Thursday morning, but more is not expected after Thursday afternoon in this region.

Light snow is expected to fall across some of the high peaks in the Southern Cape and the Eastern Cape on Thursday, as well as the high ground in the Northern Cape. More light snow is expected across the high ground in the Eastern Cape on Friday and Saturday.

Some lower-level snow across the eastern part of the Eastern Cape and south of Lesotho is expected to arrive mainly on Friday and possibly on Saturday. The snow indicated for the N3 around Van Reenen is expected on Friday and the early hours of Saturday.

The Lesotho snow will mainly fall between Thursday and Sunday, with more than 10cm of snow indicated in the areas marked in purple on the map.

Parts of the Northern Cape may see a light dusting of snow as marked on the map, and there is also a possibility of very light snow in the Free State.

Driving in snow, even if it’s very light, is very challenging and it is easy to lose control of the vehicle so slow down and keep a significant distance behind other cars.

The map indicates where SnowReportSA is seeing the possibility of snow, but it may not fall in all of the areas shown on the map. As with any forecast of any kind (temperature, clouds, rain, wind), what eventually happens may or may not be similar to the forecast.
