Shauwn Mkhize, also known as Mamkhize, has been accused of allegedly visiting convicted fraudster Thabo Bester in jail. Watch Video. Mkhize has asked for the identity of the “well-known celebrity” who was also mentioned as being affiliated with Bester.

Investigative journalist Karyn Maughan had previously reported that Bester received visits from a billionaire businesswoman and had the contact details of a well-known celebrity. Maughan did not reveal the identities of either woman. In response to the allegations, Mkhize took to Instagram and distanced herself from the situation, stating that she is not involved in any way. She also asked for the identity of the celebrity involved, pointing out that there are many well-known celebrities in South Africa.

Mkhize’s denial follows tweets by the popular Twitter account Man’s Not Barry Roux, which accused her of visiting Bester in jail before he walked out. The Twitter user offered no evidence to back up their claims. The allegations against Mkhize were raised after Bester named several accomplices, including Nandipha Magudumana, who were linked to his fraud case.

Bester was convicted of rape and murder in 2012 and was sentenced to life imprisonment at the Mangaung Correctional Centre. He has previously claimed to have been abandoned by his celebrity friends while in prison. In a leaked letter published by Drum magazine in 2013, Bester wrote about feeling “loneliness, rejection, and judgment”.

He also reportedly asked for forgiveness from high-profile people, including Tumisho Masha, Pearl Thusi, and Bonang Matheba. Bester mentioned Matheba specifically in the letter, stating that he had believed in her from the days of University of Johannesburg and helped her get her dream job. He also mentioned that he was with her when she bought her first car. However, despite his efforts, Bester claimed to have been abandoned by Matheba and his other celebrity friends.

The allegations against Mkhize have caused a stir on social media, with many people speculating about the identity of the celebrity mentioned by Bester. Maughan confirmed that the Royal AM CEO has no affiliation with the convicted fraudster, putting the rumours to rest.
