During US Africa leadership Summit, Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghanaian President called the African Americans to come back home and help to build the continent. We need to get rid of tribalism. He said in the continent we call ourselves Ghanaian, Ivorians, Nigerians, Swazis, South Africans, then we find ourselves outside the continent and to the outside world, there are no South Africans, Nigerians, there are only Africans, we are all simple Africans.

The lesson for him is clear, our destiny is intriguingly linkly to each other, not only of those of us in the continent but Africans in the diaspora as well. He said the urgent responsibility we face is to make our countries and continent attractive to our people, to see them as places of opportunities. One African American said “Home where? He thinks we’re supposed to show up on the continent of Africa and pick a random country to live in? Whilst also still paying taxes in America? It costs money to renounce also; nobody in those comments thought his speech through. We’re already home. I’m straight here.
