The political parties had their time to convince voters to vote for their respective political parties, but it appears that some may be going the extra mile to try and win the Local Government Elections by hook or crook.

On Saturday evening in Lebowakgomo in the Limpopo province, an IEC Election official was questioned by the election watchdogs when he dropped a suspicious ballot box.

In the video, the complainants can be heard claiming that those were the deeds of the ruling party and that they are used to winning elections fraudulently.

Rufus Mphahlele is one of the officials from the Democratic Party that was on the scene and he condemned the attempts to rig votes.

“Corruption has started at IEC in Lebowakgomo. One box full of ballot papers without any ward nor district number. They can’t even account what is happening or where the box comes from”

Rigging votes is one of the criminal elements that seek to undermine the democratic processes in South Africa, and it does not only do that, but also denies the voters their power to choose their leaders without fear of prejudice.

Anyone who does that simply proves to the people that they do not believe in their own manifestos and don’t deserve to lead at all.
