PSL has fined Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Royal AM R1.65M after pleading guilty to various charges against it which is related to Royal AM’s league match against Maritzburg United where the club’s hierarchy was seen flaunting cash in front of the media following their 2-1 win over their provincial rivals.

Royal AM is, therefore, required to immediately pay R325 000 of the R1.65 million after the remaining R1.325 million of the fine was suspended for a certain period of time.

SEE the charges and fines Royal AM received:

1. Royal AM pleaded guilty to attempting to pay football players in cash in front of the media, thereby, bringing the league into disrepute – R500 000 fine, with R250 000 suspended.

2. Royal AM pleaded guilty to failing to provide adequate security at the match (relating to having 10 more in their attendance party than the 60 allowed as per the PSL’s Covid-19 regulations) – R100 000 fine with R75 000 suspended.

3. Royal AM pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that their Covid-19 officer complied with his duties – R10 000.

4. Royal AM pleaded guilty to not having their players follow the walk-on procedures, in that they left the changerooms four minutes late (even though the match kicked off on time) – R10 000.

5. Royal AM pleaded guilty to only having 10 match balls as opposed to 11 – R5 000.

Furthermore, Royal AM Covid-19 compliance officer Sthembiso Hlongwane was also slapped with R10 000 fine after admitting to not making sure that all club officials and attendees wore face masks at all times.

It’s the second time that Hlongwane is found guilty of a similar offence, and therefore, he has to pay a further R10 000 which was a suspended fine from the previous sentence handed while he was still at Real Kings in 2020.
