As of Saturday, the hashtag, #Ramaphosamustgo has remained at the top of the table with over 15,000 tweets on the trend. However, an ANC member as well as a Jacob Zuma supporter, Carl Niehaus has pointed out on Twitter that the campaign was not and never been for him or about him, rather the people who have made their choice.
He went further to urge the public to push and keep pushing the hashtag saying that the poor performance of ANC at the municipal elections was because, the president, Cyril Ramaphosa was made the face of the party during campaigns.
“Some @MyANC leaders proclaimed Pres. @CyrilRamaphosa as ANC’ saviour’. He was made the face of our campaign. It became a refrendum on Ramaphosa. What a disaster! With 46% we fell for the 1st time below 50%. A resounding vote of no confidence. To save our ANC Ramaphosa must go!” Niehaus tweeted.
