Meet the former radio personality Bongani Mavuso who was born and bred in KwaZulu-Natal(eDumbe). Mavuso was a senior presenter at Ukhozi Fm, entrepreneur, and poet. He loved art very much more especially literacy art.
The love of Art started a long time ago when he was a young boy. In 2005 he started a column that was publishing poetry for four years on Ilanga Langesonto which is the Zulu leading newspaper on the weekend.
He was publishing poetry in the daily leading newspaper daily, Isolezwe. He was a hard worker as he also a column on Ilanga LangeTheku where he writes about the artistic work of African poets.
On Ukhozi Fm he was a current affairs presenter as he has a Journalism degree and he also has a slot where he encourages poetry which is called “Back To My Roots” every Friday between 10:30 and 11:00 which has been running since 2005.
He has worked with so many people and he also erects many people in poet which include Sbo da Poet, and Siyabonga Mpungose who are now in the field. He has his publishing company KaMavuso Publishers Ltd which was established in 2017.
Mavuso has so many roles that he had more especially in Art as he was a board member of the National Arts Council from 2017-2020, Gcinamasiko Heritage Trust (2015) and also IsiZulu National Language Body where he was an advisory committee member. To mention a few.
He also has so many achievements including numerous awards. To mention a few he was also honored with SATMA and MTN in the field of art. The list is endless
