Bafana’s new head coach, Hugo Broos, has told members of the media he definitely doesn’t like losing, which resulted in some hilarious reactions from social media users.

Taking to Twitter, the team’s official account @BafanaBafana quoted the coach as saying: “I get disappointed and angry when I lose. I don’t like losing, I am here to win. If everyone works a lot, there will be success. We need to work towards one goal.

Our much-loved national team is definitely not drowning in victories and Mzansi social media users couldn’t help giving the aspirational coach a little heads-up.

Ever the shady bunch, Mzansi certainly fired some shots at the poorly performing soccer team. Check out some of the comments below: @Mankgopane said: “I’m not trying to discourage anyone… but win with who?”

@Tsholo_Blacki hilariously wrote: “He’s going to need a heart transplant then. Because losing here is our daily bread.” @JusticeNtshang1 said: “Rubbish.” @KgubudiM said: “Will you apply that and score more goals and wins? Who is not working hard on your side? Players, Safa? Technical team?”

The skilful former Ajax Cape Town player helped his team secure their third overall Arabian Gulf League title. Al Jazira beat Khor Fakkan via a 3-1 scoreline to ensure they clinched the title on Tuesday night at home and Serero could not contain his excitement.

The 31-year-old Soweto-born player completed his switch to the United Arab Emirates outfit two years ago. Known as ‘Cream’ to his followers, Serero followed his former Ajax Amsterdam manager Marcel Keizer to the Gulf, which has seen an incredible change of fortunes for the club.

The defensive midfielder has since earned widespread praise for his role in their revival – he featured in all but one game in their 2020/21 league triumph – which is their first since 2016/17 campaign and third in their history.

As one of the country’s most talented players, Serero will also hope to form part of the new Bafana coach, Hugo Broos’ squad.
