SAPS is in charge of policing, but they work in conjunction with local law enforcement which is under the stewardship of the DA. The issue is when the people hit the fan, it’s a “national competency”, so no responsibility for LE then.
Also, policing alone won’t solve spatial and, societal issues as it needs a holistic approach from all sectors and stakeholders. We cant become a police state and that’s what the DA wants, especially in the Western Cape.
