The Democratic Independent Party’s president and outgoing councillor, Anwar Adams, has expressed dissatisfaction over the just concluded election and the results accusing the IEC of rigging the election.
This is yet an unverified claim as Adams claims the IEC was contracted by the state to rig the election, as a result of his uproar and rant, the commission had to close their briefing much earlier than planned and expected.
The outgoing Councillor went ahead to demand fo the recount of all votes. Since the said Democratic party did not perform as well as they did in the 2016 election, their president suspects and claims foul play.

However, the Democratic Independent Party is not the only party making claims of unfair election as the National Freedom Party (NFP) has also made moves of taking the IEC to the Pietermaritzburg High Court over false results.
