Ekurhuleni Police Officers Face Disciplinary Action for Failing to Stop Copper Cable Theft”

Ekurhuleni, South Africa – Police officers who stood by as community members in Reiger Park stole copper cables are now facing disciplinary action. Videos posted on social media showed a group of residents digging up and stealing electric cables, while the officers failed to take action.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole has condemned the incident and deployed extra police officers to the Reiger Park Police Station. The extra police force consists of members from the District, Essential Infrastructure Task Team, and Public Order Police.
