Zuma feels vindicated by the apex court says the foundation.

The Jacob Zuma Foundation says it feels vindicated by the decision of the highest court in the land to have a relook into the case of the former President.

Former President Zuma is currently serving his 15-month sentence for contempt of court following his defiance of an order by the Constitutional Court

This follows the Constitutional Court’s directive to the legal teams of former President Jacob Zuma and the other parties to each submit a 20-page document addressing the International Law and constitutional implications of his ongoing detention.

Former President Zuma is currently serving his 15-month sentence for contempt of court following his defiance of an order by the Constitutional Court to appear before the State Capture Commission.

The apex court has given Zuma’s lawyers until August the 13th to furnish it with the 20-page document.

The Foundation also says it stands by its words that Zuma remains the only person to be sentenced without a trial.

“We are busy studying the judgment and discussing with our lawyers to get legal advice on the options available to our Patron, H.E President Zuma,” says the Foundation in a statement.

The Foundation spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi says the jailing of the former president is illegal as he did not receive a fair trial and his wellbeing was not considered when the judgment was handed down.

“The court must re-look into this application and reconsider rescinding the decision that they have taken having tried president Zuma in absence. So this application is actually looking at the International law to see whether, that which has happened – is it in accordance with the United Nations kind of arrangements.”

On Friday Zuma was admitted to an outside hospital for his annual medical check-up.
