Real Name: Zama Khumalo (Idols SA) Place of Birth: Witbank (Emalahleni), Mpumalanga. Nationality: South African Zama’s debut single is called ‘Ndizobizwa’. The song was recorded by Kalawa.
During her time on the show her talent and star power and won the votes of millions of South Africans to be crowned the winner of the 16th season of the reality singing competition show.
On what it feels like to be this year’s winner, Zama says: “being the winner of Idols is humbling, this is the biggest achievement of my life.”
The important lesson that Zama learned from the Idols experience and will take with her into her career is to respect time.
“I have learned to respect time; respect every person I work with, and it’ll definitely help to build a good relationship with everyone I’ll come across.”
Along with the title and awesome prize package, Zama became an instant millionaire. With the R1 million cash prize she plans to build her parents a house.
The singer, who hails from Witbank, has already released her first single, Ndizobizwa, with the record label Kalawa Jazmee.
On which genre Zama would like to sing, she says she wants to do everything. “I want people to be able to relate to my music and hopefully heal from it.”
With the competition done and dusted, what’s next for Zama?
“I am looking forward to spending some time with my family and friends, and professionally I’m going to learn a bit more about performing and being in the industry.”
