The Pan-African movement was born out of conferences held in London (1900, 1919, 1921, 1923) and other cities, and is committed to establishing and cultivating unity as well as fostering a sense of brotherhood and cooperation among all people of African descent, whether they lived inside or outside of Africa. W.E.B. Du Bois, an African American activist, was a crucial early figure.

The African National Congress was inspired by Pan Africanism. ANC is a Pan Africanist movement and it open up its borders after 1994. Unfortunately because of complexity that comes with open borders and being a burden to the economy of South Africa and bad governance in Africa, ANC is pressured to be xenophobic.

EFF took a leaf out of ANC. EFF is taking the abandoned ANC’s Pan Africanism policies and reviving them but this havent been taken well by some South Africans. Most European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) nations share open inter-state borders as part of the Schengen Agreement, allowing free flow of people between nations. They are using one currency, The Euro.
