The senior counsel said truth be told, it is South African voters who are to blame for the mess that the country is in. He said those politicians did not put themselves in power, but were elected by the same people who are now complaining.”Ramaphosa is not responsible for the mess we are in. He did not make himself president. He is not in power by decree.
South African voters are keeping him there. So stop whining. Just get rid of him and his party. Try someone else outside political party terrain,” said advocate Vuyani Ngalwana. Some ANC voters have however vowed that they will give president Cyril Ramaphosa another chance to lead the country.
They said they are unapologetic about voting him in power.”And we are going to give him another five years to continue cleaning up the mess left behind by former president Jacob Zuma,” they said. Advocate Ngalwana said most people direct their anger to the wrong person. He said politicians remain in power because they are being voted into those positions.
If the citizens of South Africa are tired, he said they will know the right thing to do.Critics however argue that politicians are responsible for the mess because when they are elected into power, they are given a mandate, but choose to do otherwise.
“They are responsible, we did not elect them to be corrupt and run down state institutions. We give them a mandate, but they decide not to execute the mandate,” they said.Former Economic Freedom Fighters national chairperson, advocate Dali Mpofu also shares the same sentiments. He stated that the only way South Africa can be turned around is through voting. Mpofu said people should know that their vote is their weapon for change.
