Actress and podcaster Tebogo Thobejane is taking legal action against Innocentia “Inno” Morolong for alleged defamatory statements made about her online. On January 10, Thobejane was notified that Morolong had posted graphic images from a video of her online, along with allegations that she was using drugs. Thobejane stated that she did not give Morolong consent to take or publish the photographs and was unaware that she was in possession of them.
Despite her attorneys sending a cease and desist letter and a criminal case being pursued against Morolong, Thobejane claims that she continues to harass and defame her character. Morolong denied taking any footage of Thobejane without her consent and claimed that she shared the images after feeling provoked by Thobejane speaking about her on Instagram live.
This is not the first time Morolong has been accused of defaming Thobejane. Legal documents show that Thobejane filed a case of defamation at the Douglasdale police station and a protection order at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court early last year. The former Diep City actress said she has felt bullied by Morolong, which led her to start the Botlhale Foundation to decrease the prevalence of bullying and promote a safe online environment. Morolong, however, accused Thobejane of playing the victim and claimed that she has also bullied people online.
