The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) revealed that around 10 million people benefited from the SRD grant monthly. However, Sassa received millions of R350 grant applications that were unsuccessful.
Clients whose R350 grant application was declined have the right to appeal the decision made by Sassa. However it is important to note that the R350 grant appeals process has changed.
The Minister of Social Development (DSD) has appointed the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals to consider and decide on appeals relating to the R350 grant.
Here’s How To Submit A New R350 Grant Appeal
Step 1: Visit The New SRD Appeals Website
Step 2: Enter Your Identification Number
Step 3: Enter The Cell Phone Number You Used During The Application Process
Step 4: Click Send “Pin”
Step 5: Follow The Prompts
Clients will need an internet connection and data to lodge an appeal. This is because no appeals will be done via WhatsApp, cell phones or any other means of communication.

It is also important to note that the new system for appeals only applies to rejected R350 grant applications from April 2022 onwards. Old R350 grant appeals are still being processed by Sassa.
The qualifying criteria for the R350 grant has also changed, meaning that clients who received the grant previously may not be approved for payment under the current iteration
