A man has been left in a severe health condition following a shooting during an alleged attempted hijacking in Sandton, Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon.
Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen said that paramedics had arrived on the scene where they found the victim in a critical condition.
“Emer-G-Med paramedics arrived on the scene at the intersection of Grovesnor Crescent and William Nicol Drive, to find a male patient seated in his vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds from an unconfirmed calibre of weapon,” Van Reenen said.
“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise him before he was rushed to a nearby hospital for the further definitive care that he required,” Van Reenen said.
Van Reenen said that at this stage, the details surrounding the shooting were speculative and would form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
In an incident separate to the shooting reported on Tuesday night Emer-G-Med paramedics attended the scene of a horror crash after a minibus taxi knocked over and killed a cyclist in the Durban area.
“Emer-G-Med Paramedics are in attendance of a fatal collision involving a minibus taxi and a cyclist on the N2 South bound near EB Cloete interchange,” Van Reenen said.
