Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, popularly known as Riky Rick, passed away on Wednesday, 23 February. The star rapper allegedly took his own life after a long battle with depression. The hip-hop star’s family has announced the details for his funeral and memorial service. 

RIKY RICK’S PASSING 

Sources say that Riky Rick hung himself with a rope. Another source revealed that he was found by his management team at his home in Johannesburg north around 08:30 am on Wednesday morning. 

He passed away while en route to the hospital.

In a statement, his family said: “His love for family, friends and community is well known. Riky’s nurturing and developing of young musical talent is well documented and will forever be remembered.”

FAMILY ANNOUNCES FUNERAL AND STATEMENT DETAILS 

The Makhado family announced that a private funeral for Riky Rick will take place in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 1 March. The ceremony will be live-streamed and will take place from 10:00. 

The memorial service will take place on Friday, 4 March from 10:00 and will also be live-streamed. 

The Makhado family have thanked SA and the world for the outpouring of love they’ve received since the untimely passing of the rapper on Wednesday.

He will be laid to rest in Johannesburg and the service will be live-streamed.

The funeral service will take place between 10h00 and 12h00.
