Sassa Knows Nothing Of The R700 Increase

Sassa clears all confusion on R350 increases.

There have been some confusions when it comes to the R350 grant for the unemployment benefits. There was hope that the grant will be increased to R700 and be made permanent. Unfortunately, even the President himself refused to increase the money, saying that if it were to be made permanent, it was going to have an impact on the jobs for those who were going to get employed.

The argument went far when the newly appointed Chief Justice Mandisa Maya took on president Cyril Ramaphosa, telling him that he should pay the money and stop running around by the bush as this beneficial is not linked to the department of labour.

The grant is currently assisting many people in South Africa, even though there are still a few other applicants who still battles to get approved. Now the SA  Social Security Agency (Sassa) cleared the misunderstanding and called fake news on claims the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant applicants will receive R700 until March.

SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) is distancing itself from the news and urged applicants to take note of such news. Nothing will be increased, but they however promised that the grant has been increased by another year. The whole of 2022 everyone will receive their R350. Further more details will be given later at the end of the year if they will extend the contract to even next year or not.

I think as much as the news were fake with regard to the increase, the government should really make a provision for this grant as it is helping many people. We have so many families in South Africa who are not in the best condition, but living their lives off these social grants in order to sustain the lives of their families.
