The local government elections were launched by the South African government in November 2021. This election directly affects the communities because the candidates are local residents who have firsthand experience with service delivery.

The Economic Freedom Fighters managed to win some of the municipalities and during on-elections, the Economic Freedom Fighters continues to win some wards.Now it has been reported that The Economic Freedom Fighters Will reward it’s best performing Councillor each month with R50 000 to use on a community development project.The Economic Freedom Fighters said that this initiative is to rescue the communities whom are struggling with some services due to failure of municipalities.

Councillor Baba Sebolao from Ward 18, in Mangaung Free State province, was also identified as the best EFF Councillor of January 2023. According to the EFF, “Councillor Sebolao has been consistent in exposing and fixing the sewage spillages in the community of Mangaung”.

Councillor Fighter Mafia Fane from Ward 11, Nkomazi in Mpumalanga has being also selected as the best EFF Councillor of January 2023. According to the EFF, Councillor Mafia has been extremely active in community struggles and engaging with our people in his ward.
