Kaizer team head coach Arthur Zwane has explained how the club are dealing with the difficult situation they are in regarding their player Siyabonga Ngezana, who is being hunted by club fans. set after he lost his form.
Zwane said Ngezane and the other Chiefs players will receive professional help to deal with the difficult times they are going through.
“We have a team of psychologists working with us and I think Siya will get help – not just him, all the players because they are stressed, especially when the results are not there.
Even when we win the game, we still have to manage the players and make sure we stay on the ground,” said Zwane, who was speaking ahead of their MTN8 match against Stellenbosch FC at the weekend.
“Siya is fine. Like all players, he feels pressure to play for the captain and that’s why I became the leader to make them understand what it means to play for this club. Unfortunately, people see things differently and think I like Siya.
No. I have to practice and stay positive because I believe in all of them. It shows one thing and the point is to lead and empower the team and I know every player… their strengths and weaknesses and the challenges they face.
“In Siya’s case, yes he made a big mistake against Mamelodi Sundown but as a leader should I kill the young man for that? How many other players, and not just the Chiefs, make such mistakes? It wasn’t just Siya who made the mistake.
It was a series of mistakes – it started somewhere else and ended with Siya and he paid the price. This is how you come back from such failures, you have to bounce back from those failures and correct those mistakes,” added Zwane.
Zwane said people need to understand that football is a 24/7 job, so they also need to behave properly off the pitch.
“People aren’t happy – sometimes we go to the mall and people say bad things and that’s how you react and behave. People don’t say those things because they hate us – they say these things because they love the team and want to see the Leaders do well,” added Zwane.
