In a dazzling display of beauty, talent, and charisma, South African model Mia Le Roux has emerged as the winner of Miss South Africa 2024. The prestigious pageant, which has been a benchmark of excellence in the country’s beauty scene, saw Le Roux outshine her competitors to take home the coveted title.
The 28-year-old marketing manager, model, and part-time BCom marketing student hails from Rosebank in Cape Town, but was born in Sasolburg, Free State, and raised in Oudtshoorn. Le Roux’s journey to the crown is a testament to her resilience and determination, having been diagnosed with “profound hearing loss” at just a year old.
After her community rallied behind her for support, Le Roux was inspired to “make a positive impact and break barriers”. In her application for the pageant, she said: “I believe I deserve to win the title as I embody resilience, strength and the ubuntu spirit within South Africa. As a deaf woman with a cochlear implant, I represent a community that often goes unheard.”
Le Roux added: “I am here to prove that, despite being differently-abled, it has not affected me. My journey is a testament to the power of dreams and determination we all possess.”
No stranger to the world of beauty pageants, Le Roux has won titles such as Miss Struisie, Miss Garden Route, and Ultimate Wildcat. She also made it to the Top 5 in Miss Deaf South Africa.
Le Roux was joined by her contenders in the pageant’s Top 3 – runner-up to crown, Nompumelelo Maduna, and Onalenna Constantin claiming third place.
As the newly crowned Miss South Africa, Le Roux will receive a plethora of prizes, including:
- A cash prize of $53,371 (R1 million)
- A brand-new Mercedes Benz car
- A luxury fully furnished apartment
Congratulations to Mia Le Roux on her well-deserved win! We look forward to seeing her shine on the international stage.
