Mechanic Assist roles are currently open at Air Canada, and the company is searching for motivated candidates.
The following competencies are required of mechanic assistants:
- Applicants should be able to do general maintenance tasks that involve basic manual dexterity and be familiar with the techniques and tools used by tradespeople.
- Work alone or assist mechanics as needed for equipment repair.
- Being able to carry out physical labour both inside and outside.
- In a difficult, high-stress atmosphere, people need to be “team players,” have strong writing and verbal communication skills, and be able to keep a customer-focused mentality. Qualifications
- Diploma from high school.
- An ability to pass the pre-employment qualifying exam; a minimum of two (2) years experience in general maintenance, automotive, farm or heavy industrial equipment, or any combination of these.
- Hold a license that is currently valid.
- Able to receive a Transport Canada security card and pass a security check (MOT).
- Able to receive an ADM driver’s license and drive a car in a restricted area or a traffic zone (airside).
- Be available to work during the day, evening, and on weekends.
- As a result of the safety-critical nature of the work performed in this position, applicants must meet the medical requirements of Air Canada. Applicants will have a medical examination, which will include a drug and alcohol test. They must be sober at all times.
- Depending on the location of the job, one must be able to get and maintain the necessary transportation security clearances and supplementary authorizations.
- Applicants must be able to work in the desired country at the time any employment offer is issued. It is the candidates applying for this position’s sole obligation to get all necessary work permits, visas, or other authorizations.
