A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a horrific stabbing incident in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, where seven family members were attacked, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including two young children aged two and six.

The incident occurred on the night of October 12, 2024, in the Bethany village. The suspect began the attack by stabbing his mother and proceeded to target other family members, leaving two people hospitalized with serious injuries.

Authorities launched a manhunt early the following day and quickly apprehended the suspect.

He is now facing charges of five counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, with his first court appearance scheduled for October 15, 2024.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
