Mahindra XUV700 revealed with premium styling and “sci-fi technology”

The Mahindra XUV700 has been revealed by the Indian manufacturer as a replacement model for the XUV500. The firm says that with this product, a brand-new era for the company will be established as it introduces an array of new design cues and comfort features.

With the introduction of the Mahindra XUV700 the company promises more presence, a tough yet sophisticated experience, spirited performance and world-class safety and sci-fi technology.

Within the Indian market, the Mahindra XUV700 will be made available in four variants with a five- or seven-seater configuration. The range kicks off with the MX which sports an eight-inch infotainment system, seven-inch digital instrument cluster, smart door handles flushed into the panels when not in use, LED taillamps and 17-inch steel wheels.

This is followed by the AX3 which boasts a dual HD 10,25-inch infotainment screen with Amazon Alexa built into the system. LED DRL and front foglamps are added as well but 17-inch steel wheels remain. At the AX5 level these are replaced with alloys of the same size along with curtain airbags, LED headlamps, sequential indicators and cornering lamps.

The flagship AX7 trim features an advanced driver assistance system, dual-zone climate control with a smart clean zone system, 18-inch alloy wheels, faux-leather seats, six-way electrically adjustable seats with memory functionalities and side airbags.

Two engines are available for the Mahindra XUV700; a 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol engine offering 147 kW and 380 N.m of torque or the turbodiesel 2,2-litre four-cylinder mill that offers 114 kW and 360 N.m of torque. The oil-burner also boasts a higher 136 kW and 420 N.m state of tune. Both mills can be fitted to a six-speed manual of automatic transmission depending on the spec level. If you opt for the auto in the higher-end turbodiesel, the torque figure increases to 450 N.m. An all-wheel drivetrain is available on select models as well.

Local introduction date, spec and pricing for South Africa is yet to be confirmed.
