A light aircraft went down in Lower Crossroads, Cape Town, just before 18:00 on Tuesday.

Safety and security mayoral committee member JP Smith said it is believed both occupants were injured but further updates would follow.

Emergency services responded to the incident.

Photos of the scene showed lots of residents crowding around the seemingly intact plane, with some even standing on the plane’s wings.
