The controversial first season of Lebo M Homecoming has been confirmed to debut on DStv Mzansi Magic, after its official premiere last year on Showmax .
DStv took to Twitter on Wednesday, 7 July 2021, to share a post confirming the new shows set to air on Mzansi Magic in the month of July. The post served to confirm that Lebo M’s reality show, Lebo M: Homecoming, is set to begin airing on Mzansi Magic as a new show on the channel. The show premiered as one of the first Showmax original docu-series.
Lebo M stated, “I’ve worked with some of the biggest and greatest, most talented people in the world.” Going on to add, “I’m re-entering a phase in my life as a family man… Family has always been the basis under which I function better.”
Hence, the show will focus on Lebo M and the dynamics of his family, highlighting him as a family man, rather than a persona attributed to have contributed to the making of the soundtrack of The Lion King. The show first premiered on Showmax in December 2020, to mixed reviews. Reactions to Lebo M as a man did not yield positive results, as he was labelled as “narcissistic,” and his relationship with his family was further scrutinised.
Therefore, following the availability of the show on Showmax, Lebo M has not promoted or spoken about the reality show. Lebo M: Homecoming is set to premiere on Thursday, 8 July 2021, on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161, at 20:00.
