Many Mamelodi Sundowns supporters were concerned about the team’s future after the departure of South Africa’s most infamous coaching trio since the team’s cohesion had been broken. While the team’s performance on the field improved, it appears that the management’s choice to replace Mangqoba Mngithi with Rhulani mokwena, a.k.a. “Pep lite,” has strained relations between the two coaches. Rhulani Mokwena recently gave a sports interview on Metro FM that has people talking about what should happen to coach Mangqoba Mngithi now that his contract is about to expire.

“Obviously coach Mangqoba is family, and there will always be space for family here at the club. I don’t mean to speak out of turn but I believe that he is happy here, otherwise he wouldn’t show up to work daily if he felt otherwise. But I believe that being a top coach that he is, he should be able to prove himself at another team and even win silverware” said the young coach.

Many Mamelodi Sundowns fans and Football fans seems to believe that the young coach was subtly signaling for his co-worker to not renew his contract; as they can no longer work together anymore.Rhulani mokwena has transformed Mamelodi Sundowns since the management’s decision to make him the sole head coach. The team seems to be baying for the league title uncontested; and has turned the DSTV premier league into a “farmer’s league”.

The young manager has downplayed his recent success, emphasizing that the team’s success is as a result of hard work and dedication; not because of the availability of funds to acquire any and all the players they desire.
