Film crew member arrested in connection with Krugersdorp gang rape. Police say alleged robbed items were found in her possession.
The person arrested was a crew members and one of the people who organised this thing’ – Gauteng Police Commissioner General Elias Mawela.
Besides being a former female police officer, the woman arrested was also part of the film crew.
In a shocking turn of events, a former female police officer who was stationed at the Krugersdorp Police Station has been arrested in connection with the vicious attack on a film crew in West Village that made national headlines in July.
The News can confirm she was also part of the film crew.
On Thursday, July 28, National Police stated the crew of 22 people – 12 women and 10 men – were filming a music video when they were attacked by a group of armed men wearing blankets.
“The attackers ordered everyone to lie on the ground and subsequently raped eight of the women before robbing everyone of their belongings and fleeing the scene,” said Police Spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili.
The former cop was arrested on Wednesday, October 12 for theft and defeating the ends of justice after it was discovered by the investigating officer that she had in her possession property that belongs to one of the victims who was raped.
“The person arrested was a crew member and one of the people who organised this thing. We are saddened because how do the alleged robbed items end up in her possession? She also already appeared before the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court,” said Gauteng Police Commissioner General Elias Mawela.
A total number of 15 arrests have now been made in connection with the incident and some of the suspects have been positively identified.
They face a range of charges including multiple counts of rape, robbery with aggravated circumstances and being in the country illegally
