The Police have opened an investigation of election ballot boxes from five different voting stations which were been transported by a Taxi in the Ehlanzeni District on Tuesday 2, November. The driver of the said taxi was said to be wearing an ANC T-shirt which caught the attention of other parties.
According to the Police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a complaint was received claimimg that about 03:30, ballot boxes from different stations were delivered at the Mhala IEC office in waed 16 in a taxi.
“They approached the taxi and found that they had loaded ballot boxes for five voting stations.
“They discovered that seals of eight ballot boxes have been tampered with. The municipal election official confirmed that the boxes were tampered with upon arrival and that it is not allowed to use one common transport for different stations.”
Mohlala added that the driver is not allowed to wear any political identity clothing.
