Egyptian giants Al Ahly have reportedly asked Kaizer Chiefs for a favor.
It is expected that the side coached by Pitso Mosimane have requested to use the Amakhosi headquarters in Naturena as a training base while in the country for their CAF Champions League clash with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Siya crew has been led to believe that this arrangement, however, will only be for one day on Thursday afternoon and will not disrupt Chiefs’ own plans to use the pitches at The Village, though Amakhosi won’t be in any official action before March 19.
Ahly touched down in South Africa on Wednesday morning for their group stages return leg against Sundowns, who beat them 1-0 in Cairo two weekends ago.
They arrive with Mosimane having just signed a new two-year contract to keep him steering the ship following incredible success since joining them in October 2020 from Sundowns – the former Bafana Bafana mentor has two Champions League titles since.
Downs host Ahly on Saturday afternoon with the Egyptians trailing them by three points in Group A three matches in, and the visitors will be desperate to also get one over their continental rivals in their own backyard.
Sudanese outfits Al Merrikh and Al Hilal are the other two teams in the group.
