Edwin Sodi, who was entrusted with R300 million to enhance the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment plant, has been accused of diverting the funds for personal purposes instead of carrying out the necessary upgrades to provide clean water for the residents of Hammanskraal.

Shockingly, it is alleged that he used the money to acquire luxurious cars, pay salaries to members of the ANC, and maintain a relationship with Kefilwe Mabote. This mismanagement of funds has resulted in the Rooiwal plant’s continued inability to adequately purify water, leading to the discharge of untreated waste into the Apies River, which serves as the main water source for the people in Hammanskraal.

The ANC government had allocated R295 million to Edwin Sodi for the improvement of the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment plant, which could have effectively prevented the outbreak of cholera and potentially saved lives. Unfortunately, this incident once again exposes the lack of accountability within the South African government under ANC rule.

The fact that individuals responsible for such misconduct and embezzlement often go unpunished undermines the credibility and effectiveness of the entire government system. To add insult to injury, it is reported that Kefilwe Mabote, who is allegedly associated with Edwin Sodi, was seen driving a convoy worth a staggering 20 million.

This exorbitant expenditure was made using funds that were intended to bring positive change to the lives of the people in Hammanskraal through the enhancement of the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment plant. This kind of callousness and disregard for the well-being of others is truly disgusting and disgraceful.

The consequences of these actions are severe, with the people of Hammanskraal suffering from contaminated water and the associated health risks. This situation highlights the urgent need for accountability, transparency, and responsible governance to prevent similar incidents from occurring and to safeguard the well-being of the citizens.
