Western Cape police have made a breakthrough in the murders of four men in Tulbagh on Saturday by arresting a man they described as a “known drug dealer”.
Spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said police followed leads that led them to the Marikana informal settlement on Tuesday.
There they arrested a 29-year-old man who will face four charges of murder and one of attempted murder when he appears in court in Tulbagh on Thursday.
The suspect, a foreign national, was also allegedly found to have no immigration documentation.
Four men between the ages of 30 and 37 were shot dead while they were socializing with a group of people at a house in Jooste Street at around 21:00 on Saturday.
A fifth man was injured and taken to hospital. Police put up a R100 000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
