Jacob Zuma, the former president of South Africa, has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him. On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, he appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.

The case was postponed until 19 July where Zuma and his co-accused will face the court again. Zuma told prosecutors that he was being painted as a corrupt political leader and his critics were not interested in the truth according to The Guardian.

Thales, the French arms manufacturer, has also pleaded not guilty in the multi-billion rand arms deal dating back to 1999.

Zuma’s supporters came out in their numbers to support the former president as he once again appears in court.

According to the BBC, the former president has been in and out of court over the past few years and his trial has had many postponements.

News reported that it was a truly shocking moment for many South Africans after the EFF’s Dali Mpofu showed up as an unexpected part of former president Jacob Zuma’s legal team in court on Wednesday afternoon this week.

According to various reports, Mpofu has confirmed that he will be representing Zuma, and while many are shocked that a member of the EFF will be representing an ANC member.
