Benedict Saul McCarthy is a South African well-known retired football player who is now in the coaching department. The Cape Town born striker is currently managing the Durban based side Amazulu Football Club.
The 43-year-old was born in Cape Town, he also grew up in the Western side of the county. He played for Young Pirates and Crusaders during his youth days.
In 1995, the deadly striker joined Seven stars. He scored 39 goals in just 49 appearances, however, he was loaned to Ajax Cape town the following year. He then moved to Europe in 1997 after sealing a deal with the Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
Benni is one of the players that made South Africa proud in Europe. He scored 20 goals in 36 appearances for the Dutch club. He then moved to Spain in 1999, he was playing for Celta Vigo, who are currently participating in the Spanish La Liga. Check out the pictures of Benni McCarthy:
