Mufasa aka Cassper Nyovest has shocked Mzansi after he revealed his past tax troubles. The rapper cum Amapiano star claimed that he was forced to pay a massive R700 000 per month for almost 2 years to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
Cassper Nyovest revealed the startling tax bill during a recent interview with Slikour, the rapper.
Mufasa, who is ordinarily tight-lipped about such personal issues, uncharacteristically opened up, saying,
“The was a time when I had to pay SARS R700K for two years. If I had one month where I didn’t make a payment they were going to reverse the agreement and still keep whatever I paid and go back to the initial amount. So, literally every single month I’m making R700k or more but I’m left with like R50k for almost two years.”
Cass revealed that apart from the SARS tax bill, he also had to settle another massive bill for the accountants he had consulted to help him out of his tax predicament.
The rapper’s tax troubles with SARS occurred after he settled a debt for R7 million, which he incurred during the Fill Up Moses Mabhida Stadium concert.
Just after settling the huge bill he incurred after some sponsors pulled out, Cassper was shocked to learn that he owed SARS a massive R13 million. After consulting accountants, Abuti Fill Up negotiated a payment plan which saw him paying R700 000 per month for almost 2 years.
Unsurprisingly, Mzansi was shocked by Cassper Nyovest’s astronomical tax bill. Many wondered how much he was making per month to be able to afford R700 000 per month to SARS.
Others were very sceptical and accused Cassper Nyovest of lying about his tax bill. Some even went as far as challenging him to share his tax statements, just like AKA had done.
Below are some of the reactions to Cassper Nyovest’s astronomical tax bill and the R700 000 per month payments he was forced to make.
@Yanga_NGX: & That is why we ALL need financial education from an early age on both a personal (“street”) and an academic level. Letting things get to a point where you are paying R700k p/m in tax is ridiculous esp given that you are not even a mega mega millionaire or billionaire yet.
@TshiamoKhoza191: AKA Posted A Statement , He Must Post It Too , I’m not hating I’m Just Saying.
@RefiloeMamakea: He doesn’t wanna go to that other podcast coz he knows they’ll ask questions till he tangles himself. Slikour on the other side is just listening and he’ll be acting surprised later instead of asking relevant questions.
@NoteStar1: When you have to pay SARS like that, it’s mostly interest and penalties, also if you make 6 figures a month your tax is between 36-42% not our 15% I’m just happy Cassper kept his possessions and still got SARS off he’s back.
@wexa11: Slikor is sitting there thinking “damn, nigga, how much money you got kanti?
