Cassper breaks silence on looting spree despite insults

One of the biggest South African artists, Cassper Nyovest has penned down a short note on the state of the nation despite all the vitriols targeted at the celebrities.

He took time to explain why he usually refrain from commenting on national issues.
Which mostly attracts attacks, insults ridicule and back lashes from different quarters.
These negative reactions has put him off from the

“Usually I would refrain from commenting cause of the backlash that we receive when we share our opinions.
Everytime I’ve tried voicing something on public it’s met with insults or being ridiculed, I was going to shut up and sell my cheap sneakers but what good would it be to have such a powerful voice if i cant use it?I need to pick my words carefully because this situation is so sensitive”

Cassper explained how the situation has been brewing for far too long as the country has been on a ticking time bomb.
He however, refused to pass judgement on how people who are angry should behave, while insisting that looting remains condemned.

This has been brewing for long now, South Africa has been a ticking time
bomb. Passing judgement from our comfortable homes about how people who are angry & less fortunate should
behave is utterly ridiculous, some families’ reality is far more difficult than ours so l can’t judge anyone. I am totally
against looting, however I’m equally torn by our people’s lack & suffering.

He expressed fear on the report of seventy two people who have lost their lives in the crisis coupled with covid that’s ravaging the health sector.

“More than anything l fear for their lives, reports say 72 people have already lost their lives and that is 72 toomany especially with a disease like Covid 19 that spreads through human contact amongst other ways. I fear for what’s gonna happen over the next few weeks. Too many lives have already been lost”

Cassper called on the President to show real leadership and care for the nation at this critical point not just on iPad speeches on TV.

He advise the political leaders to take the message to the grassroots, show commitment, compassion to those they use in winning election, collaborate with celebrities especially those who helped them in winning election.

We plead for our president to show real
leadership! Stand firm & show care for His nation.. not just iPad speeches on TV. I don’t have any great solutions but i do
believe that you can’t run the country from the tv, our community leaders & executive pls connect with people same way you do during elections!!! Show some compassion & reach to same celebs you use for elections to help, myself included.

He concluded with a pledge and prayer for the country and maintained his love for the country.

I love my country with all of mel!! May we never lose hope &l
pray for peace and unity in South Africa Our Land.
Love TO US ALL
