In 2017, Sipho Ndlovu aka Brickz was sentenced to 15 years in jail after he was found guilty of raping a relative in November 2013.
According to a Twitter user who goes by the handle of @Tebogo80615772, the kwaito musician has reportedly been released from jail after serving less than half of his 15-year sentence.
Many have criticised Brickz’s alleged early release after the tweep referred to him as a “longtime soldier”.
BRICKZ SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN JAIL
According to Eyewitness News, Brickz was found guilty of raping his then 16-year-old niece at his Johannesburg north home in 2017, threatening to kill her if she came forward.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) welcomed the Sweety My Baby hitmaker’s sentence.
“We’ve argued that the minimum prescribed sentence of 10 years would be disproportionate to the gravity of the offence,” said NPA spokesperson Phindi Louw Mjonondwane.
Brickz was ordered to serve his sentence at the Krugersdorp Correctional Services, but was later transferred to the Leeuwkop Correctional Services in Rietfontein, Johannesburg.

Taking to Twitter on Friday 18 March, a tweep claimed Brickz had been released from jail, posting a picture of him with his close friend and colleague DJ Cleo.

PRISON CHOIR
In 2019, Brickz’s manager, Grey Mafumbu, announced that Brickz had joined the prison choir as part of his rehabilitation.
“They usually perform in church or at weddings,” said Mafumbu.
“He has a choir background because when he was younger, he was part of a choir.”
