Former ANC Women’s League president, Bathabile Dlamini has reacted to the directive given by the ANC that she is disqualified from standing for any position at the conference as she was found guilty of a serious offence in a court of law.Kgalema Montlante issued the letter to Bathabile Dlamini notifying her that although she was nominated for the ANC NEC list, she will not qualify to do so.
This comes as ANC conference is around the corner.Bathabile Dlamini says this is only happening after all the processes have been completed. And also because she got a lot of nominations to stand for NEC.”Nazoke the fight is on you are on the list second time and you are told stories after the process is complete,” she said.RET comrades are however not happy with this development.
Nathi Sithole said this seem like a declaration of war. He argues that Kgalema Montlante does not have power to disqualify Bathabile Dlamini from contesting.”The conference is for delegates not Kgalema Motlanthe and his committee, there is nowhere in the constitution and policies of the ANC where it says this. This is war,” said Nathi Sithole. Some have encouraged Bathabile Dlamini to mobilize support from ANC comrades so they could vote in favour of the section 89 report on Phala Phala scandal.
They argue that if they fail to do so, most comrades will find themselves without jobs post 2024.”You must mobilise ANC MPs to support the section 89 panel report in parliament otherwise Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Lindiwe Sisulu, and others will be without a job after the 2024 elections. Should the ANC win the elections, so far I don’t see that happening. It’s do or die now, you only live once,” said a social critic.Sympathisers of Bathabile Dlamini said this is personal. They said comrades close to Cyril Ramaphosa have skeletons in their closets, but because they belong to the right faction, they are safe.
