Babes Wodumo gets dumped by manager

GQOM legend Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane has been dumped by her manager Keke Mokoena over claims that Babes is unmanageable. Keke confirmed she was no longer managing babes.

“I guess my managing style is not compatible with her as an artist. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal details of our working relationship due to confidentiality clauses in our contract,” she said.

It seems Babes has already found a new manager.

Sbusiso Mncube said he’s now managing Babes Wodumo.

“I’m now managing both Mpintsho and Babes Wodumo. We were working with Keke for the past few months and as West Ink records, we are not aware that she’s no longer with us.

“Unfortunately, I can’t comment further until I get the full story,” said Sbusiso.

“She has too many advisors who want nothing good for her. Her lack of professionalism damaged their working situation and for that reason, they parted ways.”

The source said Babes would often do things without consulting Keke. It’s alleged that when she released her EP Crown on Friday 10 December, Keke was not aware of it.

“Her manager only found out via social media that she had a new release. This did not sit well with Keke. Her manager was also not happy with her recent PR stunt. She felt it was degrading to Mpintsho’s mother and damaging to Babes’ brand. She felt her reputation as a manager was also compromised.”

The source said Babes apologised to Keke but then stopped taking her calls the same weekend.

“Keke had secured several deals for her but she was nowhere to be found. This left Keke with no choice but to dump Babes Wodumo,” said the source.

Babes recently shocked fans when she swore at her mother-in-law Zama Gumede. In a video clip she posted online, she calls Zama a useless and poor woman who is always asking for money. She also accuses Zama of dumping her son Mandla “Mpintsho” Maphumulo when he was a baby.

On Friday, Babes apologised and said it was a publicity stunt. But Mpintsho’s family said it would be taking legal action against her.
