Masondo says no suspects have been arrested so far and has appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

Gauteng police are investigating two murders after a couple driving in a Ferrari died in a hail of bullets in Soweto.
According to police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo, the incident occurred on Sunday evening, 16 September 2021. The male driver of the Ferrari, who was 41 years old, and his 21-year-old girlfriend, had driven the Italian fast car to the corner of Chris Hani and Klipvalley Roads at around 22:00.
A Toyota Etios soon pulled up in front of the Ferrari and blocked it before an “unconfirmed number of occupants” opened fire and fled the scene. Fifteen bullets were fired at the car, killing the couple instantly.
NO ARRESTS MADE YET IN FERRARI SHOOTING
For now, a cloud of mystery surrounds the killing of the Ferrari driver and his girlfriend and witness who saw the shooting in Soweto have no doubt been left traumatized. A tweet accompanying pictures of the crime scene suggests this may have been a love triangle gone wrong, but this hasn’t been confirmed by police.
Gauteng police are nontheless exploring all possible avenues as far as the probe is concerned: Investigations are still underway to determine not only the possible suspects but also the motive for the killing, which appears to be a hit. At this point, no arrests have been made in relation to the murders.
This is nearly two weeks after another incident in Soweto, during which a taxi boss took his own life after reportedly killing his ex-lover and her boyfriend. The couple was also driving around the township in a flashy car at the time.
The woman, a reservist for the South African Police Service (SAPS), were driving along a street in Diepkloof, Soweto, at approximately 17:00 when they were attacked by the man. The assailant fired several shots at the couple in the street.
The vehicle’s occupants were declared dead at the scene while the gunman allegedly killed himself at his Orlando East home. Visuals of the crime scene that showed the Yellow Ford Mustang the alleged couple was traveling in quickly found their way to social media.
