SA rapper and songwriter Mthembeni Ndevu, better known by his stage name as Emtee has had to address allegations of being like Ambitiouz Entertainment, after his supposedly dismissive posts directed at former Emtee Records artist, Flash Ikumkani.
Emtee took to Twitter on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, to continue engaging his fans after it was suggested that he is treating his artists much like how Ambitiouz Entertainment treated him. The matter started on Monday, 26 July 2021, when former Emtee Records artist, Flash Ikumkani confirmed that he was no longer part of the record label. Sensing the possible animosity between Ikumkani and Emtee, Twitter users asked Emtee what happened.
In true Emtee fashion, he responded, “Ask him. I’m busy.” Ikumkani responded, “Caba mna ndingumntu nje ongenzinto? (So you think I’m a person who is not doing anything?) Anyway, thank you for everything you did for me, my idol.”
Emtee did not take that laying down and responded by commenting on the post, suggesting that he was just speaking for himself and was not implying anything about Ikumkani. Moreover, when setting the record straight on the split, Emtee indicated that Ikumkani was a bad investment, as he has not seen returns from investing in the rapper’s career.
