Nonkanyiso ‘LaConco’ Conco is a big fan favourite on Showmax and Mzansi Magic’s reality TV show Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD).
Her sassiness, that many got to learn on the reality show, made her one of the stars amongst the ladies pitting her against Ayanda Ncwane who is also dearly loved. It is important to mention that the two ladies are friends and are not in competition with each other.
LaConco is also the mother of one of former President of the country Jacob Zuma’s sons that is, in fact, how she was thrust into the spotlight, but she has now created a name for herself as a businesswoman who is raising their son.
Although she introduced herself as “fiancé” (raising speculations that she is probably still engaged with the former president) Nonkanyiso has managed to break away from the title of being former President Jacob Zuma’s ex fiancé.
But, on the show, she still wore her ring and spoke about the former president, albeit she would not mention him by name.
This week, however, the reality TV star took to Twitter to hint that she is a single woman. In a tweet she wrote, “I refuse to be wealthy and single, no kuzosha abantu [people will burn (suffer)]”.
Her followers took to the comments section and when one told her she is too beautiful to be single, she confirmed that she is indeed single by replying, “Well nazo! [ there you have it]”.
Another fan asked how is it possible that she is single, jokingly asking if all the men in her area are in prison. To this, the businesswoman replied with an IsiZulu idiom, saying, “Eyi amanzi angcwele emadolweni kubo [they are too afraid to approach me]”.
Laconco, on RHOD always obeyed the Zuma family’s instructions to keep their family name out from the reality show.
They believe that she accepted the offer to star in the reality show because she had a hidden agenda against them, “Already the Zuma name is being talked about almost every day in the media. We don’t want any drama as the family.
Enough is enough. But we warn her not to bring the Zuma name into disrepute or else she will regret (it). We are exhausted now as a family of people who tarnish our name and get away with it.
But I’m not in any way saying she will do that,” said Jacob Zuma’s nephew Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma to Briefly
“She has the right to do whatever she wants to do as long that doesn’t cause pain to other people. All I’m saying is that she must not say or do things that might harm the Zuma family name, which I think was the ticket for her to get chosen for that role,” he added.
