André de Ruyter, the CEO of Eskom, has been found not guilty of the claims of racism levelled against him.

The report from Advocate Ishmael Semenya, who was commissioned to investigate the charges, has been received by Eskom’s Board.

The allegations included the abuse of power, racial discrimination, poor governance, irregular recruitment, irregular staff appointments as well as unlawful procurement, according to a report by SABC News.

Tshitangano charged De Ruyter with purging black suppliers and dealing with them in a racist manner. He also accused De Ruyter of wanting to purge Eskom’s database of black suppliers.

According to a report by News24, the allegations against De Ruyter were stated as “wrong, egregious, false, baseless and lacked any substantiation” in the independent investigation.

Advocate Semenya could not discover evidence to substantiate charges of De Ruyter’s bad governance, according to Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.

This comes after the officer was found to have advanced personal interests in the deal involving supplier Econ Oil. Tshitangano is also found guilty of intentionally breaching his duty and misleading Mzansi’s power generator.

According to News24, the chairperson of his disciplinary inquiry Nazeer Cassim has submitted his ruling to the parastatal on Friday morning.
