Tony Yengeni, a veteran of the African National Congress (ANC), took to his official Twitter account yesterday afternoon (March 23) to ask if Vladimir Putin should attend the BRICS summit in South Africa later this year. Tony Yengeni asked this after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, but former ANC spokesperson Carl Niehaus responded by criticizing Tony Yengeni.
Carl Niehaus responded to Tony Yengeni’s question by saying that Vladimir Putin’s visit to South Africa should not even be questioned as he is a member of BRICS, and he also said that South Africa should have withdrawn their membership with the ICC a lot time ago…”Pres.
Putin is the President of Russia, a member state of #BRICS. HOW can he not come?! SA should long ago have withdrawn from the #ICC, it has turned into an instrument of Western Imperialism. SA should be ashamed that the question of Putin’s arrest on our soil even arises!” – Wrote Carl Niehaus on Twitter.
