The music community is mourning the loss of a talented Bacardi king, Vusi Ma R5. He was taken from us too soon, in a senseless act of violence, on January 30th, 2023.

Vusi was a shining light in the Bacardi scene, known for his electrifying performances and chart-topping hits like “Thaba Ke Changitse” and “Tse Nnyane”. He brought the Bacardi culture to new heights, performing on the biggest stages and introducing many talented dancers to South Africa. He was a true champion of up-and-coming artists, constantly collaborating with the next generation of stars.

Today, scores of people have gathered to bid farewell to Vusi at his funeral in Mabopane, Tshwane. It’s a testament to the impact he had on so many lives, and the love and respect he inspired in those around him. Proceedings will lead to the Odi Cemetery, where Vusi will be laid to rest.

His death has left a void that can never be filled. The loss of Vusi Ma R5 is a devastating blow to the music community, and to the Bacardi scene in particular. He brought so much joy and excitement to those who were lucky enough to experience his performances. He will be deeply missed.
