See why an ANC council member in eThekwini has resigned effective immediately.

The municipality of eThekwini is one of the worst run municipalities in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province, a factor which has seen residents being up in arms against local government.Thanduxolo Sabela, a councillor and member of the ANC has resigned as an executive committee member under the Thekwini municipality. It has been reported that secretary of the ANC in the region, Musa Nciki, informed the party that there will be drastic changes in the leadership of the city, and the councillor was one of those who were to be axed.

In his resignation letter, Sabelo said he has chosen to resign with immediate effect after getting the notification that he was going to be recalled. He seem to hold no grudges against those in authority, but expressed his gratitude for having been deployed under the ANC administration.”I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and the support that I have always received. I wish to thank my political party the ANC, the officials and stuff members of eThekwini municipality for the support given to me during my service,” he said.

The EFF in Kwa-Zulu Natal province is also calling for eThekwini mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda to resign. EFF councilors in Durban disrupted the sitting of the last Council meeting of the year in protest over the lack of sewage infrastructure and polluted beaches. The party called for the immediate resignation of Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda.

The mayor is accused of incompetent, and spending his time pursuing a side gig performing his songs at weddings, while eThekwini is falling apart.To cover up for their mayor’s incompetence, the ANC in eThekwini is calling for deputy mayor to resign instead. Philani Mavundla has confirmed that the ANC have asked him to vacate his position. He however says that he is going nowhere until his term ends as was discussed in his party’s negotiations with the ANC in November last year.
