The age long controversial marriage between Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung has generated a lot of opinions in the public space and we are yet to scratch the surface.

Last year, the story of abuse in the house of LGBTQ leading personality in South Africa, Somizi made it to the public on how he has been abusing his husband Mohale

Some social commentators wade into the issue and gave their token of opinion on the subject.

So it’s very sad to hear of anyone going through any kind of abuse, especially being someone who’s been through it. The same way when you walk into a court up until the court says or decides or whatever there’s always his side her and the truth.

There’s a sense of shame around having that abuse happening to you or being committed against you as a man, because it disempowers you as a man.
I think we need to create a space where we men specifically feel safe to share when they’re being abused. And I think that because our relationships in the community I kind of watch.”
